Background
Lindsley Lighting takes a fresh approach to designing and manufacturing LED light fixtures. Lindsley Lighting fixtures can be specified for indoor and outdoor usage – delivering a seamless look and feel for interior and exterior lighting. The sleek modernist designs leverage the low profile of LEDs and deliver warm, natural light color with high color rendering. The Challenge
Most lighting companies focus on either indoor fixtures or outdoor fixtures due to their inherent design differences. Lindsley Lighting sought to break that paradigm and deliver customers a seamless lighting experience – bridging the look and performance of lighting from indoors to outdoors. Traditional design leverages gasketed enclosures to prevent water from damaging electrical components. However, since gaskets can fail over time or are broken and repaired …water and moisture are often trapped inside. Lindsley Lighting eliminated this design flaw and pioneered a process that allows water to flow-in but very importantly, flow-out and not be trapped. A key element to the design success was finding a conformal coating product to protect the circuit boards and shield LEDs and the electrical components from water and moisture.
The Solution
Lindsley Lighting only uses energy-efficient LEDs in all fixtures and uses Cree LEDs for all LED circuit boards. Shat-R-Shield’s silicone conformal coating products are formulated to provide maximum protection with minimal affect to LEDs and circuit boards. Results
Lindsley Lighting has put their outdoor lighting fixtures in snow, rain and harsh outdoor conditions and has had zero problems and no product failure. Shat-R-Shield’s conformal coating helped Lindsley Lighting deliver a consistent indoor/outdoor form-factor that has accelerated adoption and ensured a waterproof lighting product.
We use Cree LEDs in most of our fixtures, and Shat-R-Shield is the only conformal coating they will warrant their product against.
